Pros

Very friendly and relaxed environment Onboarding is the most streamlined I've ever seen. I had a laptop and working login as soon as I arrived that morning Very willing to help build you up in your career Every person I've met is cool and very nice Fantastic PTO and relaxed scheduling Very good benefits Excellent 401k options Compensation is decent Company constantly improves benefits package (new paternity leave last year, this year WFH a couple days a week system) Company is growing because they provide a great service backed by tech newer (on the surface) than competitors New CIO Brian Fowler is awesome and is really improving the tech department quickly

Cons

Company issued hardware/machines are just OK Quite a bit of technical debt; not quite as much as bigger fintech companies but some. Company is aware and is currently investing in fixing this Sometimes can feel like the home office gets the best things

Pros

RLI has a strong employee-ownership culture and a work environment where people are trusted to take ownership of what they do. The company is relatively flat, which gives employees visibility, access to leadership, and a better understanding of how their work affects the broader organization. Senior management is approachable in a way I have not experienced at other companies, and there is a real effort to listen to employee feedback through direct conversations, exit interviews, and companywide surveys. I also appreciate working with people who care about doing their jobs well and understand that their performance and conduct affect the company as a whole. For employees who are self-starters, think strategically, and take pride in their work, RLI can be a very positive place to build a career.

Cons

Because RLI is relatively flat and gives people a lot of ownership, it may not be the best fit for someone who wants a highly structured environment, frequent direction, or a clearly mapped career path at every step. Advancement and development often require self-advocacy, patience, resourcefulness, and a willingness to look for opportunities rather than waiting for them to be handed to you. That is not necessarily a negative, but it can be an adjustment depending on what type of environment someone is used to.
