Pros

- Leaders are approachable and very caring - The core values are truly upheld, especially Employee appreciation/recognition - There are so many opportunities within the organization to get involved in. They encourage all employees to look for opportunities to implement new tools & technologies. - Learning is huge at RLI, which is amazing as they invest in their employees, other companies I've worked at only approved courses that are relevant to your job.

Cons

- The company drastically grew in the past few years so there are still some growing pains, which is common. - The company has very smart people but unfortunately a lot of folks with historical knowledge of processes/systems are gone with limited documentation left for those that are still at the company. I am sure we will figure out how to bridge this gap soon.

Pros

RLI has a strong employee-ownership culture and a work environment where people are trusted to take ownership of what they do. The company is relatively flat, which gives employees visibility, access to leadership, and a better understanding of how their work affects the broader organization. Senior management is approachable in a way I have not experienced at other companies, and there is a real effort to listen to employee feedback through direct conversations, exit interviews, and companywide surveys. I also appreciate working with people who care about doing their jobs well and understand that their performance and conduct affect the company as a whole. For employees who are self-starters, think strategically, and take pride in their work, RLI can be a very positive place to build a career.

Cons

Because RLI is relatively flat and gives people a lot of ownership, it may not be the best fit for someone who wants a highly structured environment, frequent direction, or a clearly mapped career path at every step. Advancement and development often require self-advocacy, patience, resourcefulness, and a willingness to look for opportunities rather than waiting for them to be handed to you. That is not necessarily a negative, but it can be an adjustment depending on what type of environment someone is used to.
