Exploits junior engineers with poor compensation - Software Engineer RTS Labs Employee Review

Pros

Snacks are nice. Office is in a great location. If you're a junior dev, you still have opportunities to spearhead projects

Cons

Throws junior devs into the deep-end with little support, expecting them to nearly lead entire projects. Terrible compensation for any experience level. I literally doubled my salary when I left RTS. CEO micro-manages and preens over how good he is to his employees for like, offering an extra day off at Thanksgiving. Poor gender diversity. When I started, there were a ton of women. By the time I left, I was one of 3 female engineers.

Thank you for your thoughtful review, and clearly I let you down during your time at RTS. I do appreciate your feedback as it will help with our continuous improvement efforts and move the company forward. We would also like to restate some facts about working at RTS Labs: * We believe we pay fairly, and in most cases higher than the market depending upon experience and performance. We use PayFactors and market data to confirm that we are paying competitive market-level salaries. We are also trying our best to stay ahead of post-pandemic compensation changes and remote work. * We have good healthcare benefits that include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance along with a generous 401K match. * More than 20% of our workforce is women, and I agree, we have more work to do. I have challenged my team to increase that number by 10% next year! * For all new employees at RTS we offer a formal mentoring and buddy system to get you quickly acclimated to your RTS work life. * Our new program called, New Hire Guild has earned praises from other companies. * We conduct regular check-ins with all employees, typically monthly, but more or less frequent depending on your preferences. I find it hard to believe that we never heard you in your three-plus years at RTS. * Every project has a Lead supported by a Scrum Master and a Project Manager and they go through ongoing training to support feedback and learn how to help engineers. * We conduct an every-Friday standup with open commentary from anyone. We also have an anonymous Slack channel where employees can confidentially share any concerns or other important issues. Again, we appreciate your input and we are sorry your time at RTS was not as positive as you hoped it would be. We will take your feedback and push even harder. Personally, I will push harder to be a better leader.

Pros

I have had a really good experience here. People actually care and treat each other with respect. You can bring up ideas or concerns and you will get heard, which is not something you find everywhere. The team is smart, down to earth, and easy to work with. It is definitely fast paced and that is not for everyone. You are expected to behave like an adult, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your work. Nobody is going to babysit you, but you are also not left hanging. If you like taking responsibility and working with people who respect each other, RTS Labs is a solid place to be.

Cons

Sometimes there are too many changes in tech choices, and we miss the chance to lock in a stable process
