Pros

-Decent pay/benefits (Industry average, which isn't bad for Mississippi) -Good job security (Long-lasting contracts and, supposedly, retention after contract completion) -Start/Stop times (not scheduled shifts) are generally flexible -Plenty of opportunities for voluntary overtime

Cons

-Bad location (Forest is about a 1 hour drive from most population centers) -Does not promote from within unless you're a part of the "Good ol' boys" club -Job/shift you originally hired for will probably change at least once after start date (Shifts include 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 12hr day/night, plus on-call) -Management is more concerned about fighting over who gets what contract bonus rather than focusing on smooth, continuous production -Very high employee turnover. (Most people quit in 1 to 2 years, if not sooner.) -Employee safety and well-being tends to get over-looked. (bad ergonomic work stations, etc)

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
