Pros
1. Good for part or even full time work if you are a college age student looking for a flexible job to get through school. Very flexible scheduling, the main reason I worked here throughout college 2. If you have a good store staff and coworkers, it can be an incredibly fun job 3. There can be great promotional opportunities if you network and connect with people. However, this can be the complete opposite if you are unfortunate with your higher up management and get bad upper management. 4. The pay is incredible at higher levels of management (General manager and up).
Cons
1. Not the best company in terms of promotional opportunities. I have known a lot of great managers and workers who get stuck and are never promoted due to workplace politics, or because upper management wants to keep them at their current position since they are "good" there. Many incredible Co-managers are never promoted to a general manager position simply because the higher up area management likes that they work well under their current general manager, and wants to keep them in their current position. 2.Upper management, on the regional level can be incredibly overbearing and a bit tone-deaf to the needs and day to day of store level managers. 3. Wages are incredibly terrible for Shift managers. Associates make 14.50 an hour, and shift managers only make 16.50, and are required to do far more work than $2 justifies. Shift managers used to get a monthly bonus of a few hundred $, yet this was taken away 2 or 3 years ago. 4. Insurance is also pretty terrible with RaceTrac, you really don't get much coverage.
