Pros
This company has been a source of steady employment for me for 26+ continuous years. In that time, I have moved from entry level employee, through the ranks to a management position, so great career opportunities. The compensation is high for the area, including health benefits and employee profit sharing. High value here is placed on safety, integrity and performance, therefore those that share those values have a path here to enjoy not only long employment, but advancement opportunities (as I was afforded). Additionally, the company places a high value on employee retention, meaning that even though market conditions may change, the company strives to keep its workforce employed. For my part, I will say I have no regrets in the years I have spent here and plan to stay longer.
Cons
Much of the work at the Steel mill is "hands-on", therefore common sense and the ability to learn are primary skills. Those that don't have or are unable to acquire those skills likely will have difficulty understanding the work.
