Pros
Some of the people I met working there have become life long friends. Convenient location. Travel.
Cons
I was there for many years and saw alot of changes. Loyalty means nothing to upper management. There were times you had to work a 10 hour day with no break, but they bought you lunch so it was "ok". They basically suck the life out of you! The management doesn't appreciate your hard work or the knowledge obtained. Amtrak is a difficult mode of transportation to sell and you really have to have a complete understanding of it to sell it right. They are so sales focused that they don't care if you sell the product wrong as long as you close the sale. There were times that I went home feeling terrible for taking hardworking people's money, knowing that their vacation was going to be less then prefect! Upper management acts like they don't have time and really could care less about their employees. You only get ahead by being a yes person and a brown noser! Don't plan on making this job your career. As soon as you disagree or try to give your opinion, they will lay you off. This company's unemployment record must be through the roof!
