Pros

I began working at Yankee Leisure Group over two years ago to help co-start an analyst team. While excited about my new position, at this time I likely would have accepted pretty much anything if it meant that I were able to move on from my previous company, which carried a toxic work atmosphere. However, what started as a new opportunity and what I thought at the time was just a new job, quickly turned into one of the greatest decisions I have ever made in my entire life. Not only does everyone have a voice, regardless of your title, but the company provides their employees with an environment in which your only road block for professional development is yourself. During my first performance review, one of my principle strengths read “naturally curious – wants to learn”. While I had never thought of myself as naturally curious up until then, someone within the organization did, and since has been constant motivation for myself to strive for knowledge every day. I truly believe when you accept a role at Yankee Leisure Group, you are not just joining a company that wants success, but more so to see the success of their staff. The executive team always has an open-door policy and will always listen to anyone if someone has an idea, question or concern. Let me make this clear, this company is not perfect, nor any company for that matter. But it’s truly inspiring to see the number of employees within the organization that have started out in our lowest tier positions and have received promotions to supervisor, manager and even director roles. This is a clear example that the company is willing to invest from within as well as challenge their employees to break outside their comfort zones to achieve more. From someone who had never received a promotion prior to joining YLG, it’s exciting to work for a company in which executives have the mindset of “who do we think can step up?” rather than “we need to look for outside help”. The phrase “You don’t pick the travel industry; the travel industry picks you” is often mentioned among higher ups and it couldn’t be anymore correct. I recently asked myself “why would I want to work in any other type of industry?” My team has the pleasure of analyzing data about extravagant destinations worldwide and I can confidently say that I didn’t just find a job at Yankee Leisure Group but have been able to find a career. One of the biggest benefits Yankee Leisure Group offers to all employees is the ability to experience a FAM(Familiarization) trip. Held yearly, yourself and colleagues will experience one of our top packages that we offer to our customers. Last year I got the chance to visit Chicago, Glacier National Park & Seattle in which I had never visited any of these destinations prior. Aside from the trip being one of the most memorable trips I had ever been on, it allowed me to experience first hand what type of bucket list experiences we are selling to our customers. The trip also provided me the opportunity to strengthen my relationships with my colleagues, which prior to the trip, I rarely engaged. By the way, did I mention that these trips are labeled as business travel and you will never have to allocate any of your PTO towards? I want to reiterate that this company will challenge you to grow and constantly want to achieve more. You will likely be asked to perform tasks that fall outside of your exact job description. However, understand that by engaging new tasks will only make you well diverse within the organization and potentially provide new opportunities. Overall, Yankee Leisure Group is set to grow double digits once again in 2019 and executives are constantly looking for new investments to ensure the company achieves ongoing success. If you are considering applying to one of our open positions and are looking to work for an exciting, fast-paced global travel company, then myself and Yankee Leisure Group welcomes you.

Cons

Due to an open concept office layout, it can get a little loud during peak hours as all the agents are likely handling customer calls. However, the open concept does enable the opportunity for all departments to be interactive with one another.

Pros

First and foremost, the people at RBG are what make it such a great place to work. The team is passionate, supportive, and genuinely enjoys what they do. Everyone works hard, but there's also a strong culture of having fun and celebrating successes together. RBG does an excellent job of fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Even though we work remotely, which is another fantastic perk, there are plenty of opportunities to connect with colleagues through clubs like cooking, running, gaming, and more. These groups make it easy to build relationships with team members across the organization. And, of course, working in the travel industry is an exciting bonus. Being part of a company that helps create memorable travel experiences makes the work even more rewarding.

Cons

If fast-paced is not for you, RBG may not be your best fit.

Pros

Remote. Hourly + Commission. Health Benefits.

Cons

High performance metrics were not the primary factor in employment decisions. Leadership communication was inconsistent and lacked transparency. Policies prioritizing customer satisfaction leaves you feeling undervalued and used. Rapid operational changes occasionally impacted team stability. Goals and priorities were sometimes ambiguous and would change suddenly without explanation. Organizational changes created confusion and conflict to the work culture. Inconsistent enforcement of policies and standards. Constant increase to work load with no additional scheduled time to complete new assigned tasks. Management is mostly comprised of individuals who failed as successful Account Executives but got moved up to management. They impose unrealistic expectations that they themselves couldn't keep. You aren't just selling Rail Vacations you are teaching customers about how train travel works on the phone, this leads to very long phone calls and over time. Website pricing is misleading which leads to a lot of mad customers calling in taking it out of the people that answer the phones. Mandatory weekends, and monthly changes to schedule with only 2 weeks notice which leads to a bad work/life balance.
