Pros

What doesn't kill us makes us stronger

Cons

Where to start...? Unfortunately all the negative reviews are true. You might be tempted to think, ahh, surley it can't be that bad can it? Yes it can and yes it is! It somehow staggers belief that a company with such a complete disregard to their staff is still in business and yet they are. Should you be lucky enough to read this as part of your research before applying for a job - run! Don't be tempted, you will regret it as have hundreds before you. The song "house of the rising sun" comes to mind " - " There is a house in Azusa, You call the Rising Sun, It's been the ruin of many a poor soul And me, oh God, I'm one "- If you read this after you accepted a position with Rain Bird you already know what I am talking about and mind find some solace in the fact that you are not the first and won't be the last. As with most new positions you tend to be in a "honeymoon period" for around 3 month and then the cracks start to show. After 6 month you start to think mmmhhh, maybe this was a mistake (it was!) but if I work hard enough things will turn around (they won't!). After 12 month you will be disillusioned and looking for a way out. You can trust your colleagues but you can't trust anyone in a senior management position either in Australia or (especially not) in the USA. There is only one way to survive at Rain Bird for longer than 2 years in senior management. You have to throw all your scruples and human decency overboard and become one of them, a "Dementor" ! What is a Dementor you might ask (if you are not a Harry Potter fan) - here is a brief definition: "Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope and happiness out of the air around them. ... Get too near a Dementor and every good feeling, every happy memory, will be sucked out of you. I could't have put it any better myself, don't say you haven't been warned!!!

Pros

Lots of freedom and independence, not much micro management, can come up with cool ideas.

Cons

Hard to advance, people stay in their spots for a long time, remote employees excluded from advancement in general. Benefits are bad, health care terrible. 401k match is weak
