Pros
Compensation. Salaries consistently at the top end of industry averages, but they take it out of your soul later. Rain Bird provides an excellent opportunity to work, though temporarily, with some of the most qualified and experienced professionals. New hires have master's degrees, certifications, 10 plus years of experience and industry accomplishments under their belt. Unfortunately these people are your colleagues and not your managers and their careers at the Bird are short lived. However, you will get a brief opportunity to learn from and associate with some truly talented people.
Cons
Strategic goals set by the senior management vary from quarter to quarter. The "number one priority" changes from week to week and the company has no direction for lasting improvement. A core objective is "results are all that matter." This has created a culture where, in management's eyes, the end justifies the means. Managers can falsify numbers, use questionable mathematical formulas, and sacrifice truly meaningful improvements to meet temporary objectives and still win favor with senior management.
