Pros

The compensation is great. They hire pretty great people for the most part. They prefer that their customer service representatives have a master's degree for cryin' out loud...that's not a joke.

Cons

They hire great people, but they don't really care about retention. They'll hire the best, use every ounce of their soul because every department is under-staffed, tell them they do a so-so job and shrug their shoulders when those great people decide to leave. I've seen some excellent people come and go through the Rain Bird Revolving Door (complete with metal detectors on the way in AND out). Also, the vacation is pretty stingy. It's a running joke throughout the company.

Pros

Lots of freedom and independence, not much micro management, can come up with cool ideas.

Cons

Hard to advance, people stay in their spots for a long time, remote employees excluded from advancement in general. Benefits are bad, health care terrible. 401k match is weak
