Pros

I have been working at Rational Enterprise for a year. From my experience here, most developers are helpful, innovative and friendly. I have learned new technologies and feel like my overall knowledge of software development has increased. Supervisors have monthly meetings with each developer solely to make sure they have everything they need to be a good employee. Senior developers are smart, insightful and provide mentor-ship to new/junior developers. My experience here has been fantastic. I highly recommend.

Cons

You have to be able to produce good work on your own. Meaning that, if you need strict structure and management in order to be a productive developer then you will not get the most out of working here. You need to be self-motivated, willing to learn and apply yourself.

Pros

- Relaxed, calm and creative environment to learn new technologies and expand your knowledge and expertise - Modern tech stack with smart, thoughtful and wise senior developers - Soft deadline approach gives developers ample time to do the best work they possibly can do without feeling much stress and pressure from management - Great company to start out as a junior developer or a developer that wants to ride out their career until retirement

Cons

Although there are many pros to working at rational, no company is perfect. There have been many closed door conversations from management that senior developers are not included in. There have been multiple "uprisings" I have witnessed from passionate senior developers that stirred up the worst in them and had to leave the company. Some also have chosen to continue to work there with a horrible attitude. I believe that management lacks EQ when is comes to leadership positions but everything is a learning experience and we are all human beings.
