Pros
The pay for engineers with any experience is excellent. But they will sell the job as one that aligns with your experience when the work is actually far left field from what you've done. I got swindled into a job where I feel like a new grad instead of an experienced engineer.
Cons
Raytheon is a disorganized, inefficient, hot mess. As far as I can tell, we are wasting tax payer dollars at a level that merits criminal charges. It's horrible. Most new hires are fresh grads, and there are not enough mid or senior level career folks to teach them the job. The ones that do exist are largely ignoring the cries for help from new hires. Documentation of code and processes is non existent, making it extremely difficult to learn the job or debug poorly written code. I wake up every day full of existential dread at the thought of going to work. When I come home ar night, I'm too exhausted to pursue my hobbies. I can't wait til I don't owe them money for the sign on bonus and I can leave this pit of dispair.
