Pros

-Very smart, inspiring team members -Unlimited PTO -Great benefits -Lots of room to switch accounts and get your hands on all types of businesses

Cons

-Late nights and weekend work with little to no appreciation the majority of the time. On an intense congress-driven account, I asked the team lead if we can order lunch during a weekend monitoring role from ~7am until early evening, and she literally started laughing. -Time off/flexible, but if your account is busy, work > personal life. I made a mistake on an account that the client noticed in the midst of me dealing with a bad personal issue that I should have taken time off for (but my account was super busy and the high pressure prevented me from doing so). Leadership made sure that I remembered that for every performance review. Despite glowing peer reviews, client praise and even helping to win and expand new business, they resisted promoting me for years after the mistake up until my departure from the company (very disheartening to see those who you mentored get promoted to levels above you).

Real Chemistry Response

Thank you for sharing feedback on your time at Real Chemistry and where we can continue supporting employees. We agreed that with great people supporting great clients, it’s easy to find tons of opportunity to develop in your career! And while we will be the first to recognize the demanding schedule of a client services business, we absolutely believe that your well-being is no less important. I’m sorry to hear you did not feel empowered to take time off, as we absolutely support the use of flexible PTO to give everyone the opportunity to recharge and take time away—for whatever reason you need. We also have a policy in place to support employees for meals and travel outside of regular business hours—and if you find yourself in any of our offices you’ll also find an endless supply of snacks, beverages, and many agency-sponsored meals! If any questions on the support available, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your HR partner or business leader. - Wendy Carhart, Chief Communications, Culture, and Purpose officer

Pros

- none. this company is soul suckingly inefficient and they prefer it that way

Cons

- the most dishonest and toxic work environment that I have ever been a part of - the most unqualified management that I have come across (I have worked across numerous agencies - the work is sketchy at best and clients are grossly over billed. Pressuring employees to over bill clients and trying to force inaccurate or incomplete work through the purposely inefficient review processes is common practice at RC - if you do not over bill your clients your managers will begin to micromanage you in a manner that hints at you not doing enough. - Account teams know nothing about media or advertising and make the most uninformed promises to clients and that media activation is constantly on the hook and being blamed for - they hire very little or no men in general. this place is like a toxic middle school atmosphere, it is truly exhausting to be a part of. - managers will routinely insult you in a way you've never been insulted before at work and nothing will be done about it - information is usually gate kept and teams will prevent you from doing your job while management is asking that you contribute more.
