Pros
CEO knows very well about the operations of the company. Employee benefits are getting better and competitive. Very "retail" working environment.
Cons
Human resource adds a lot of overhead to already buy workload. There are book clubs, on-line trainings and surveys, many office activities, and many HR emails every day. These overheads are not disclosed in job descriptions, take away 10-20% of daily resource, and result in a lot of distractions. Employees have a culture of escalating everything directly to top management without addressing issues to supervisors directly. Lots of daily fire fighting are due to human errors. Operations prefer to adjust reports instead of solving problems directly. CEO knows very well about company operations but lack of effective solutions to improve bottom line. Performance fluctuates with seasons. Main office employees are required to be in office all the time during Covid season after giving 1 month of working from home and after being branded as "essential workers".
