Pros
Redfin provides a great place to learn about real estate, especially if you do not have a background in it. They have great training programs, and the managers are always willing to help you when you have a problem.
Cons
As a regular agent your base salary is extremely low, so you live off the bonuses you receive. You only receive your full bonus if the customer gives you a survey score of 9 or higher. The survey is out of 10. This means that if you worked really hard, and the client is only some what happy, and gives you a 7, you are penalized and do not receive your full bonus. Somehow this doesn't seem right. They say you can take time off, but if you do, be prepared to still be working, even if you have someone else covering for you. Clients do not care if your out of the office. Plan on working 6 days a week, and receiving calls and emails past 8 pm, and on your day off. It is extremely hard to have any kind of work life balance, no matter what they tell you. Understand that this is a full time job, and only the agents who work 50+ hours a week are going to make more than 55k a year. The only thing Redfin really cares about is how many deals you can close. They have some nice perks like free cell service and a company car, but that's there to make you forget you just made $1,200 on a closed deal, while the agent sitting next to you made $20,000 for the same amount of work.
