Pros
Insurance, diverse client interaction (First time buyers, affluent, young, mature), Learning the real estate business, Some flexibility.
Cons
I would have given my real estate career to Redfin. Unfortunately, although the pitch is great, after a while the curtain gets pulled back and you see backstage. I simply stopped believing it's in the clients best interest to use Redfin. Agents are spread across much too wide of an area to ever really know a great buy or guide the client. I remember feeling so blind, so many times. If it wasn't for the listing agent, the client would be left clueless to an area. When your agent knows an area, they can actually negotiate on your behalf, not just take instructions. The rebate isn't worth it for what most clients leave on the table. An older gentleman once told me - young man, remember this, cheap things are seldom good and good things are seldom cheap. I don't think you should try to save a couple thousand or even more when investing in real estate. When this became a firm belief, I could no longer work at Redfin.
