Pros

You'll meet the best bunch of people in the theater, the combination of long hours and poor pay breeds a lot of comraderie amongst the staff.

Cons

General manager job has become literally impossible to manage. Just recently announced was the elimination of PT managers into "team leads" and cutting pay for GMs. Definitely sounds like a way that cineworld can justify paying such low management wages (as low as $2 above minimum) They say they care and I'm sure someone will post the same generic message on this post about reaching out to them but guess what, actions speak louder than words. Change the pass policies back, offer part time managers benefits, etc. Took away employee pass privileges and make it only two per week. You can try and justify this anyway you'd like but clearly it was unpopular and a mistake. Every company in the business offers more than 2 per week. Especially when regal tries to skirt having to pay anyone benefits (only FT employees and managers get benefits and they rather hire 2 part timers than one full timer). If you're part time they'll make sure you don't get enough hours to make full time per the affordable care act as there is a weekly email that warns GMs and DMs who is getting close to the 30 hour threshold for the ACA. The least you could do is give decent pass privileges. Then again they think it changed but now most theaters just let their employees walk into movies anyway now without even ringing in passes. I think it's funny and telling that we lost our "best place to work" certification this year. Get rid of rules such as: - the entire company must have an "approved" email signature -no rope lines to organize crowds -no visible trash cans (apparently regal/cineworld know better than Disney which has trash cans EVERYWHERE to maintain cleanliness) -GM offices can not have "too many" personal items (this isn't a joke I was literally also told to take down my movie posters, company awards and family photos in my personal GM office Do any of the above help us be the "best place to watch a movie", which on its own is pretty much the worst slogan ever. You know what did help? The secret shopper program, which was eliminated. Keeping your staff and managers happy so they go above and beyond for the guests. Cineworld failed to do their due diligence on the company before buying it and are now just trying to cut cut cut to save money. Spent money redesigning the logo to something that was mocked non stop online. Promised they were going to put money into theaters at last year's GM conference. Apparently what that meant wasn't put money into repairs and maintenance but it meant renovation of theaters in their top markets to be more like cineworld theaters in the UK. Added gimmicks like screen x and 4DX meanwhile the majority of their theaters are falling apart and when I ask for money to repair roof leaks I'm told to deal with it because it's not "life safety" and there's not money to spend on repairs. GM bonus structure changing again GM Pay structure changed (lowered) No work life balance Everyone in corporate leadership as well as DMs are so afraid so they've turned into cineworld brown nosers instead of standing up and pointing out the reality of the situation. GMs are now expected to move frequently, no longer can you find a theater you like, set up roots and have a family life, you'll just be told your pay is now capped and you can't get a raise, or like me be told I'm paid to much and either need to move my family to a state we've never lived in where they have a larger theater or take a pay cut or demotion to stay here where I own a house and my kids like their school. If you're a Deputy General Manager the same is expected as you must apply for GM spots or else your position will be "reconsidered" (aka demotion). They're looking for a clear pipeline of people who are willing to work for peanuts (my new approved pay for a DGM is about $15/hr salaried). You could work at five guys or Costco as an employee and get paid as much as an assistant general manager now. Oh and remember that all of this is for the viability of the company, just look at the below quote "Cineworld Group PLC (CINE.LN) said Thursday that first-half pretax profit and revenue soared, as its acquisition of U.S.-based Regal Entertainment Group boosted its results. The cinema chain made a pretax profit of $160.2 million in the six months to the end of June compared with $60.5 million a year earlier, it said. Net profit rose to $128.4 million from $50.6 million" Just remember that quote is from a company that slashed benefits and pay for their line staff. And if anyone just thinks I'm bitter, i've spent over a decade with regal, uprooting my life to move up, missing holidays with family, helping with acquisitions for weeks at a time and running multiple theaters at a time when my district manager asked, and the thank you I was given is being told I'm overpaid and that I'd have to move to keep this pay or take a pay cut/demotion . So I think I've earned the right to leave this review

Pros

The initial role offers good experience in sales and customer service, but the benefits are overshadowed by internal management failures.

Cons

The primary issue lies in the disconnect between local management and corporate HR, specifically regarding off-boarding and payroll accuracy. I submitted a formal two-week notice which was reportedly never filed by my manager. This resulted in an "ineligible for rehire" status despite my following all proper protocols. Furthermore, communication from Corporate is inconsistent and contradictory. I was told both that my notice was received but my two weeks were incomplete, and then later told that no notice was submitted at all. Even with physical proof of attendance (after a manager failed to adjust a manual clock-in as promised) and proof of the submitted notice, Corporate refused to correct the record.
