"Loyalty is to the company, not the patients" - Activities Director Regency Pacific Employee Review

Pros

Working with the residents is very fulfilling. You get to meet a lot of new and interesting people, from all walks of life, and some of them claim a piece of your heart forever. Some of the staff are absolutely incredible. Caring and loving nurses, CNA's, therapy department, and admissions.

Cons

Human resource department does not keep anything you say private, even if you insist. Regional VP and facility ED value the corporation only-"employee loyalty is to the company, not the patients". Patients are on a "turn and burn" level, which means they are just money for the company...not humans that are in the facility for rehabilitation and care. Employees are disposable and are treated as such. I was told "you care too much, you need to harden your heart to be successful here". Care complaints/concerns are swept under the rug. Only necessary to follow state regulations if the state surveyors are present. Management/corporate will find any way possible to terminate you if your loyalty is with your patients, if you contact your HR with a problem with management/policy/health issue, and you cannot trust admin to call state for an abuse complaint-just do it YOURSELF!

Pros

Nice residents and okay pay, but that's it.

Cons

This facility is a abuse and health code violation waiting to happen. Residents smell like urine, open wounds get fecal matter in them and aren't properly cleaned, and rooms are unclean, especially in the memory unit. I've worked in this position long enough to know that it is not normal and a sign of abuse if this occurs. Shifts have drama, and there is a lot of resentment between shifts. The hiring practices are also very predatory, and they hire immediately without a ton of time for onboarding and seeing how the facility runs. I was asked during my interview about how I "handle workplace drama," which raised red flags. Also, some employees will talk about residents and their families in a demeaning way. Management is also unprofessional and inconsistent with their communication. All in all, the Pullman location is predatory in how they take advantage of the college students in the area and make them risk their licenses in an unsafe working environment.
