Pros

Decent work/life balance during the summer months (for a public accounting firm)

Cons

EXTREMELY toxic management (senior managers and principals) in the Troy office specifically. Be prepared to be overworked, underpaid, and verbally abused. This firm is also extremely short staffed because everybody is leaving (I wonder why....) I do NOT recommend working here. If you have any other prospects at all, keep looking. Management loves to gossip and WILL talk about you behind your back as soon as you leave the room. Never in my life have I experienced such rude, unprofessional and downright childish upper management. Also, forget about the formal review process because management prefers to operate on a "he said, she said" basis, making promotions all but unobtainable. Public accounting has notoriously high attrition rates, but this firm goes the extra mile with more turnover than I've ever seen before.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are actually very proud that in the times of the Great Resignation and a candidate-driven market, Rehmann experienced the lowest turnover in history in 2022 (11%) and much lower than the national average (including our profession). We feel that it speaks highly of our culture and people-focused efforts that we have invested in. You have shared quite a number of concerns about your employment with Rehmann and we can address some of those in this public forum. However, we're hopeful that that you shared feedback through the variety of avenues that the firm provides. Of course, open dialog through one-on-one conversations can also be super valuable, whether with the HR team or other firm leaders. This is all in an effort to ensure that every voice is heard and valued within the entirety of the firm. Our firm and our leaders can only get better if we provide them with honest feedback! You mention being overworked. Although the workload can feel high during busier seasons, we're hopeful that you found that our culture is built around flexibility and work/life integration, as we strive to nurture an environment where all associates are able to be successful at work and at home! You mentioned being underpaid. We know that competitive compensation is critical in attracting and retaining great talent. As such, we are fortunate to partner with Mercer, who is a leading expert in the compensation space, to assist our firm in remaining as competitive as possible. You also expressed concerns with our formal performance review process. We do have an annual formal review process where all leaders have an opportunity to provide feedback if they have worked with you, but also where you can share feedback/results about your own performance. We also have a formal goal setting process called our Grow Plan where you have the opportunity to meet with your supervisor regularly to celebrate your progress and overcome any challenges that you may be facing in reaching them. Our managers are formally trained on these processes, so they can be highly effective in providing feedback and helping your reach your greatest potential.
