Pros

Positive message from ceo and his directs. Decent equipment for software devs. Positive cash flow and leader in its niche industry. Really good training budget.

Cons

Cult-of-personality CEO and leadership. Old Microsoft only technology. Archaic and monolithic application. Microsoft only. Repeat: Microsoft only. No architecture as founder is also owner and holds all cards in technology. Lots of kook aid drinkers. Especially outside of engineering, as these folks often just ride on te coat tails of the actual software team which makes the companies only product. 60% of the company is in their 20s. So consider who does mentoring? Who is managing?

Pros

Free Lunch on Wednesdays Solid Benefits Good pay for new hires

Cons

The flexible work week doesn't actually exist. It's an excuse to require some employees to work more than the 40 hour work week. Chicago employees are required to go into the office at least 2 days a week, even if rest of the team is remote. My specific team is without clear direction or leadership. Performative corporate jargon is rewarded over meaningful contributions. Existing employees are paid significantly less than new hires. At least on my team, there have been differences of $20 to $30K in annual salary for the same level.
