Pros

Company provides iPads, free coffee and soft drinks, nice office space, monthly lunch, untapped talent in product development.

Cons

The company is focused on past glory. Our initial success was based on seemingly falling into a fortuitous position in a small, fledgling market, which has since grown by leaps and bounds. Rather than look at competition and the current state of the market, the company chooses to take a backward-looking stance and hopes to regain footing by playing by the same rules that made it a success when it was a very small company and a very different marketplace. Politics play a role in promotion and old-time friends assume positions for which their qualifications are questionable.

Pros

Free Lunch on Wednesdays Solid Benefits Good pay for new hires

Cons

The flexible work week doesn't actually exist. It's an excuse to require some employees to work more than the 40 hour work week. Chicago employees are required to go into the office at least 2 days a week, even if rest of the team is remote. My specific team is without clear direction or leadership. Performative corporate jargon is rewarded over meaningful contributions. Existing employees are paid significantly less than new hires. At least on my team, there have been differences of $20 to $30K in annual salary for the same level.
