Pros

Great technology, respected in the industry, great founder story, multiple ERGs and people who care about one another

Cons

Exec team has had a lot of change and a bit of a revolving door and since the founder stepped down a few years ago they're already on the second CEO (chosen by the private equity firm who bought a "significant minority" share of the company. Execs don't seem to like one another and despite some of them having a strong culture in their own departments, it seems to be almost entirely because of their individual executives and not because of cohesiveness among the execs and definitely not because of the head of HR, who seems to have little instinct for people.

Pros

Free Lunch on Wednesdays Solid Benefits Good pay for new hires

Cons

The flexible work week doesn't actually exist. It's an excuse to require some employees to work more than the 40 hour work week. Chicago employees are required to go into the office at least 2 days a week, even if rest of the team is remote. My specific team is without clear direction or leadership. Performative corporate jargon is rewarded over meaningful contributions. Existing employees are paid significantly less than new hires. At least on my team, there have been differences of $20 to $30K in annual salary for the same level.
