The Problem with Private Capitalism (Private Branch not Corp) - CANVASSING Renewal by Andersen Employee Review

Pros

(Reiteration, this is for private branches not the corporate branch) - Relatively care-free mood - They equip you with necessary training (most of the time) - Company parties in the winter - Cash bonuses and incentives to do better - Weekly paychecks (bi-weekly for managers) - Traveling across the state and seeing new places - State managers are usually very helpful

Cons

(Reiteration, this is for private branches not the corporate branch) - They cut corners, and the corners that get cut are people's livelihood - Company emphasis, being on money, foregoes logistics and many other important factors that keep employees happy - Care-free attitude turns into job endangerment very quickly - Middle Management sucks (regional managers) - The company is bad about providing real solutions to real problems and, instead, goes with the fake "sales plastic" ie: grin and bear it - Company recycles people, from canvassers to managers - Job is a revolving door so chances are whoever you know won't be there 6 months later - Lack of employee trust. They'll nanny you with GPS trackers, even going as far as requiring pictures to be taken of the crew before and after shift - The private franchisee owners are making money hand over fist, well into the multi-millions per year, while they cut the pay of canvassers and staffers - The company doesn't investigate problems. Instead, they drop the hammer and aggressive scold and/or fire a person without asking them what happened - Company is unwise with business model and opts to do as much production (appointments) as possible without regard for the limited territory. New houses take a minimum of 10 years before they can be touched, meaning that over the course of a year the limited territories available in some areas can get over saturated - Competitors offer windows are much, much lower in price (RbA windows start at $1200 a piece for standard, $2000 for really customized) - The only thing RbA excels at is window material. FiberEx is a great material but, for the same cost, you could buy three vinyl windows with the same level of protection and even with a minuscule 10 year warranty on them, still get 10 years longer than the RbA standard 20 year warranty, while saving money on the cost. - RbA wants to be seen as a prestigious company yet they don't give the tools required to look good or sound good. They give you boring, uninteresting videos to watch that hardly anyone actually use, old torn up binders, their paper work is all copies of copies of copies so they're blurry and look like trash, they don't even provide convenient pens so you have to basically have all your own supplies, and they regularly ask you to use your phone which can run into data/minutes problems for some people - Office managers are expected to do all office duties plus be top canvassers in their vehicles, creating a lot of stress

Pros

Management is great. They lead by example and value their people. You don't feel like a number. There is ample room for growth and offer coaching to ensure your success. On the sales side your income is based on your sales ability.

Cons

It takes time and sales to get to the point where you have enough appointments.
