Great pay and flexibility, but subbing can be challenging. - Substitute Teacher Renton School District Employee Review

Pros

I love the flexibility, pay, and the bonuses.

Cons

Subbing is challenging when teachers don't have sub plans or clear expectations. This year they changed the expectations for short jobs, so you are required to stay in the school and be put in another position until you have reached a half day of work making it less likely for some jobs to be picked up. The sub office can be slow in their responses.

Pros

- Flexible Hours - (VERY RARE) welcoming envoirment at some schools. - Bonuses for amount of assignments completed - Flexible scheduling

Cons

- Paid only monthly not sustainable - Students physically injure you and is a safety risk - No Opportunity to Grow - Emotionally and Mentally Taxing - Administration is Passive Aggressive, will not give you a chance to speak, explain yourself or try to make a resolution with you if issues arise, they make heinous accusations against you especially if you struggle with disabilities. - Corrupt Practices against Substitutes, treated like a minority, and punished if something isnt correct to the tea. "Permanent" Employees are treated better in most cases.
