Pros

Weekly pay, decent benefits and Paid Time Off for salaried employees, and that is it. There are no other Pros except that the drivers that you’ll get to know are some of the best people out there.

Cons

TERRIBLE pay, EVEN MORE TERRIBLE management, other account managers & sales reps stealing sales & commissions, from your accounts & managers allowing their favorites to do so, no training in actual job expectations - just “RLTP’s” (online training) for corporate expectations - not actual job, high turn over rate, treat employees disrespectfully, managers will lie and make up false complaints to get rid of people or to cover for their own mistakes, managers and GMs allowing employees to make racist and sexual jokes in the work place. Managers talk inappropriately of current & former employees. HR covers for them. Even when employees resign they walk the employee out like they’re a criminal, and send out emails to remaining staff making it sound like they were fired.

Pros

The pay is competitive, especially with overtime opportunities, and there is strong potential to earn a solid income for employees willing to work hard. The job also provides steady work and consistent hours, which can be valuable for drivers looking for financial stability.

Cons

The work/life balance for roll-off drivers can be difficult, particularly when working weekends. Drivers are often scheduled in a way that keeps hours under 60 while still requiring Saturday work, rather than being given an additional recovery day during the week. With the level of physical labor involved, one day off is often not enough to properly recover. There is also a heavy emphasis on “swinging” containers. While swings can make sense when locations are far apart, many are scheduled for stops that are very close together and provide little operational benefit. Swings add significantly more physical labor for drivers and, in some cases, can actually take longer than traditional service methods. Over time, consistently working 55–60 hour weeks under these conditions can lead to fatigue and burnout.
