Pros
steady paycheck. mediocre benefits. matching 401K (only to 4%). generally nice people. people don't stop throwing away trash, so there's always business.
Cons
No education benefits (company does not value people advancing themselves or learning). this is unheard of in any normal Fortune 300. This company is so far behind the times in technology, that it is embarrassing. It's main system is call Infopro, a DOS based CRM, Operations tool. It is HORRIBLE and causes countless hours of wasted time. The drivers have zero technology in the truck, so they basically do whatever they want because management can't monitor them. The company also micromanages every little thing (even though it fails to give you the tools to do it -- eg. make your productivity on your routes, faster, faster (however it cuts budgets on fixing trucks... broken trucks) eg be SAFE, don't get into ANY accidents (however you better freaking drive FASTER for productivity purposes) eg make the CUSTOMER happy at all costs (but you better make sure you charge them for every little thing)... this company is so full of bad micro management, and contradictions that it makes it really hard to have happy employees. I left because no one gives a crap about any one in operations, they only care when something messes up. There's also fierce competition, but this delusional company seems to think that they shouldn't compete on price (raise the prices! we are like Google and Amazon! -- what a JOKE). No one in the real world gives a you know what about trash service --- come get it , and leave (and make sure I had no idea you showed up!) No one is telling their friends that Republic Services is a great trash company and to go with them. People want the cheapest service (or free if they can get it). This company is going the way of WM, and the future does not look good. If one word could describe the corporate leadership (I mean management) it would be DELUSIONAL.
