Pros

My only Pro is that enjoy the people I work with. We all struggle with the staffing situation but try to be as helpful as possible to get each other through the shift.

Cons

A lot of the equipment on the units do not work which makes simple tasks even more difficult. 5-6 patient to 1 RN is very hard to manage with some of the higher acuity patients that get brought to a level 1 trauma center. A lot of money spent on a cafeteria to make the facility look nicer but couldn’t be allocated to staff nurses who are being overworked during the pandemic. A cafeteria where a lot of nurses can’t even go visit because there is no time to take a 30 minute lunch break during a shift. I don’t feel like hospital management is doing enough to help with turnover. Every week a new travel nurse is training on the unit.

Cons

Work-Life balance, corporate hospital = poor upper-level management/C-suite leadership, lower hourly pay compared to all other area hospitals
