Low pay and poor staffing - Patient Care Technician Research Medical Center Employee Review

Pros

Coworkers are nice and easy to get along with.

Cons

Low pay, poor staffing, and overworked. RMC can't keep techs so while you might be assigned a unit, you'll probably be floating more often than not. Some floors will try to give you 16-20 patients to take vitals on, bathe, help to the bathroom, etc. If you don't grow a backbone, they'll burn you out quick. Nurses on med/surg are regularly 6:1, PCU 4:1, and ICU 3:1.

Work-Life balance, corporate hospital = poor upper-level management/C-suite leadership, lower hourly pay compared to all other area hospitals
