Decent Regional Leadership, Weak Corporate Leadership - Senior Manager Resource Environmental Solutions Employee Review

Pros

Good benefits package. Added sick leave separate from Vacation last year. Added 3 month parental leave. Regional managers really want to do good by their employees. Corporate is just trying to keep a sinking ship appealing to the next investor.

Cons

Annual employee survey every year is meant to gain feedback and make changes. Corporate acknowledges there are severe breaks in the company but does nothing to solve the problem. $50 to get RES swag in the online store does not solve any real issues. Incredibly high turnover rate. The ones who don’t work stay and those who work hard leave for competitors because they’re working 24/7. High expectations to respond ASAP (people are bugging you if you don’t reply to an email in 15 minutes on weekends or on PTO) but corporate never responds to important requests of documents to keep contracts in compliance. Very “cliquey”. Two people in Houston make all decisions. If you don’t fit in with “the boys” you won’t promote.

Pros

-Bar none the best work/life balance I have ever had. No office requirement/fully remote options, even for field staff

Cons

-hardly any room for growth and also no distinction of job duties between mid/upper level staff. It makes it hard to assess how you can even work towards getting promoted. -management is clueless. Remote options might be good for your own personal well being but it also means your immediate team coworkers are spread across states so you’re getting lost in the shuffle of your supervisor trying to corral too many groups of people. -Collaboration is challenging, non existent, or confusing. Regions are completely separate with no opportunity for shifting or learning new things. Often left on your own to figure things out -worst health insurance I have ever had -terrible organization of drives and files. unclear SOPs for anything. Takes you a million years to locate anything because it can be saved across 3 different platforms. -too many and redundant platforms regarding time tracking, expenses, fleet, safety, project management, etc. nothing is standardized -lots of regional travel if part of a field crew. Will send you four hours away to work two hours in the field and then drive four hours home -large group of “boys club” senior staff that won’t retire but also won’t train lower and mid level staff. -core business (mitigation) taking a hit with this administration and regulatory role backs forcing them to look into other markets to stay a float when they don’t really have any footing or enough experience. Bleak business outlook
