Cons
Lots of company acquisitions and taking on new employees who aren't a good fit. Long time employees are having to shoulder the weight of a project lead inherited from E-Sciences who gets special treatment and doesn't even get her work done. Remote work is an option and hiring can be anywhere with much better candidates, but the team brought in someone who is not easily reachable during business hours, doesn't meet deadlines with quality, and always has an excuse. It is discouraging for the rest of us who are original RES employees seeing someone act like this. She's off work a ton to shuttle her children around to activities, camps, boy scouts, and school and doing sidework on company time. This summer has been many excuses for missed work including taking care of her boyfriend and even more missed time taking weeks of vacation. Doesn't even put in the time to makeup the work and keep up. other parents who have been here longer aren't getting a pass. The culture here is supporting it by inaction. This was a bad hire (acquire, really) that we are now getting impacts from. Purchasing dead weight from a company purchase is demotivating. We're better than this!
