Pros

Who: Reworld - Gave me a great opportunity to become an I&E technician. The instructors - The instructors at the facility where top notch, most being Navy nuke guys (Big brain guys). And one Air Force guy, who worked on F-111 (a pretty cool jet). The will try their best to accommodate so you will retain the information. What: The opportunity to actually becoming an electrician and receiving the training for it is indeed rare in most companies. Unless you're in the military or some sort of apprentice program. Where: Location besides going to Hawaii is awesome. The training was done in Tampa Florida. When: Specifically my training took place from late July to the end of October. Why: This is what makes this program and the company unique. The purpose of this program is two fold. As you know corporations have themselves in mind in why things are done. But unlike many corporations where the reason something is offered and given to you. without your benefit in mind, and usually its the corporation who gets 90 - 95% of the return on investment while you only yield 10 - 5 %. . . This program actually advances your career. and both you and the company reach a 40 - 50 % return in investment. Which is fair. And a lot of us can do with fair. How: This is done through the I&E program which very much like military and technical implement a combination of classroom theory and applicable hands on training. While in the classroom, then this is also done with combination of OJT (On the Job Training), at the facility you're employed at. It is this combination that actually lets you retain more than you would if paying for a college degree, for the average Joe at the average Joe IQ.

Cons

There are some communication flaws with HR (Who are not at the facility I' am at), The Facility staff, the class staff, and I. As well as logistical issues, such as car rental, room and board, and reimbursement for purchases, Mileage for travel, and other issues. The issue is not that we have to pay for some of these things. But the we where told that it would be covered by the company, or just not mentioned as a possible issue that could occur. For Example. . . I personally was told that the car rental was going to be covered by the company. Which technically, yes it is. But the reality of it was or it may still be. That the vehicle is blocked for rental, but if you so choose to rent the vehicle, you will originally pay for the vehicle which for the duration of the first round in the school you will pay out of pocket anywhere from $900 - $1100. Then when you check into the hotel, Again yes, the room is paid for but then you have to pay the incidentals for the entire stay which is $350. To clarify - I'm not a millionaire, I'm a blue collar worker. I pay bills, and in the modern day society. Bills are 70 - 80% of our checks. Thus we do not have anything from $1300 - $1500, to be blind sided with when arriving to Tampa FL. It would have been better if this was mentioned and clarified to me before showing up and adapting to a situation I was not financially prepared for. I could have put that money aside. This is where the flaw in communication was very evident. On the second trip to Tampa I was better prepared because i knew what to expect. Although I'm done with the program. I'm expecting something else to go wrong. In my previous experience companies promise things and do not follow through with their promise. I' am expecting them to hold up the end of their offer, with respects to the financial aspects agreed upon. If they deliver they would indeed be a company of their word. And a first in my experience. Star wise ( At the star rating) - Quite honestly it is too early in my career with this company to state anything truly positive and/or negative with any neutral and/or unbiased validity, and/or backing.

Pros

The shift supervisor role consists of busy days with a lot of varying priorities. You are responsible for emissions regulation, work permits, specialized permits, managing changing plant conditions, and administrative personnel requirements. This can be a high-octane role but has a more relaxed period on night shift and when outages aren't occurring (planned shutdowns for maintenance). Expect to drive plant performance and employee development. Many opportunities for professional and personal development if you put the time in.

Cons

The plant culture will play a huge role in your quality of life, since most of your time will be at the plant. This can be good or bad. Quite a few managers do not engage or develop personnel due to various qualities. You will have to do the leg work in fostering a change for personnel development.
