      Pros

      Higher pay for blue-collar work. Gives a lot of opportunities to grow in the company, with easy promotions. Excellent health coverage.

      Cons

      Dangerous industry. They put a lot of emphasis on safety for good reason. Its not risk-free. There's a lot of safety measures in place to protect employees but I would advise anyone who has trouble staying focused and aware of your surroundings from pursuing, for your sake and the sake of your coworkers. The work schedule is brutal. 12 hour shifts with day/night monthly turnover. You must be adaptable if you want to make this career work for you.
