Pros

It’s an easy job for decent (on the lower end of competitors around the area) money.

Cons

Unless you’re part of a clique or not just a pushover then it’s not worth the stress. One supervisor is just a causation of stress and misery in the location. The management change was a horrible decision for employees. The stress isn’t worth the pay, there are other companies in the field that pay at a higher rate as of right now. You run risk of legal troubles if there is human error (even if it’s not you) or system error on their part. If you’re injured during the job, they cover themselves or push blame to the employee injured. Just not worth it.

Thank you for your candid feedback. We readily accept that we have experienced some challenges at our Avon Lake site in the past year. In the time since your departure, we have been proud of the team effort we have seen to address these challenges, along with employee turnover decreasing - a key indicator of improved employee satisfaction and engagement. Please know that we have zero tolerance for disrespectful treatment, and we urge anyone who sees or experiences such treatment to immediately report it to their supervisor or HR. We truly do value each and every one of our team members and the positive impact they make on a daily basis. Thank you again.

Pros

The shift supervisor role consists of busy days with a lot of varying priorities. You are responsible for emissions regulation, work permits, specialized permits, managing changing plant conditions, and administrative personnel requirements. This can be a high-octane role but has a more relaxed period on night shift and when outages aren't occurring (planned shutdowns for maintenance). Expect to drive plant performance and employee development. Many opportunities for professional and personal development if you put the time in.

Cons

The plant culture will play a huge role in your quality of life, since most of your time will be at the plant. This can be good or bad. Quite a few managers do not engage or develop personnel due to various qualities. You will have to do the leg work in fostering a change for personnel development.
