      Decent pay, thats about it

      The Plant is 40 yrs old, the place is literally rusting away. The so called management has no experience with a trash burner, which causes uneducated decisions that have come Very close to getting someone hurt or worse. I would never tell another person to come and work here because of the dangers. There have been major safety violations that have been swept under the rug, The safety manager is scared to do there job, because she is afraid of loosing her job. I have worked at Covanta for more than twenty years and between the management and the conditions you have to work in it has Never been this F—d up. ,My hopes are no one gets hurt, and that my friends that are left still working there can find another job soon, theres only 4 or 5 senior guys that are still and they all are trying to find another job as Soon as They can.

      The I&E Apprenticeship Program has been an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience while learning the fundamentals of instrumentation and electrical systems.

      Pros

      The shift supervisor role consists of busy days with a lot of varying priorities. You are responsible for emissions regulation, work permits, specialized permits, managing changing plant conditions, and administrative personnel requirements. This can be a high-octane role but has a more relaxed period on night shift and when outages aren't occurring (planned shutdowns for maintenance). Expect to drive plant performance and employee development. Many opportunities for professional and personal development if you put the time in.

      Cons

      The plant culture will play a huge role in your quality of life, since most of your time will be at the plant. This can be good or bad. Quite a few managers do not engage or develop personnel due to various qualities. You will have to do the leg work in fostering a change for personnel development.
