Pros

Very eclectic company that has many facets in different niche markets. There are a wide variety of skill sets that keep the work interesting. Company atmosphere is generally positive and the company is small enough to where one feels the direct contributions of their work. Depending on one's role, there are potentially many options to advance/experience. Many valuable skills in the work or trade can be gained at this company from what is a rather remarkable talent pool.

Cons

The company is in the process of two, and soon likely to be three major expansions. While the prospects for all look good, it is frustrating because all resources (financial and personal) are scare. Management seems to change priorities weekly and sometimes does not offer the support that is needed.

Cons

If you don't have much ambition to further your career, you'll probably fit in just fine within the Finance department. If you're a woman - beware! Management consists of men who are micromanagers and suppress women who are ambitious to further their career. It does not matter how many times you voice your thoughts/frustrations/concerns - they will fall on death ears. You will be held in the same position without growth opportunities, even when you try to create on your own. Micro-managing is a common practice by management; not allowing you to be creative, have a voice, or be recognized for improvements. There are several toxic individuals within the department who have been with the company a while now. Their toxic behavior is continually accepted and never addressed. The company has recently implemented a new policy in which you cannot receive a promotion unless you've been in your role three years or more FYI. Several strong, smart, driven women have left this department within the past year, but that still will not be a red flag to management. To sum it up, if you like STATUS QUO and being micro-managed, then a role at Richardson Electronics Finance Department is for you.
