Pros

Engineering area is improving with some unique niche power electronics product on the manufacturing side of the business. They also have a legacy tube business that has potential that remains not completely tapped into. Lot of potential in these niche markets. Salary and benefits are pretty good, especially for a company this size.

Cons

Company needs a better balance - more technical knowledge and fewer salesmen. This is changing for the better lately. Top heavy in management, some of whom are proven ineffective but appear untouchable no matter how bad they screw up. If they could fix that problem company would improve.

Cons

If you don't have much ambition to further your career, you'll probably fit in just fine within the Finance department. If you're a woman - beware! Management consists of men who are micromanagers and suppress women who are ambitious to further their career. It does not matter how many times you voice your thoughts/frustrations/concerns - they will fall on death ears. You will be held in the same position without growth opportunities, even when you try to create on your own. Micro-managing is a common practice by management; not allowing you to be creative, have a voice, or be recognized for improvements. There are several toxic individuals within the department who have been with the company a while now. Their toxic behavior is continually accepted and never addressed. The company has recently implemented a new policy in which you cannot receive a promotion unless you've been in your role three years or more FYI. Several strong, smart, driven women have left this department within the past year, but that still will not be a red flag to management. To sum it up, if you like STATUS QUO and being micro-managed, then a role at Richardson Electronics Finance Department is for you.
