Culture is one with frequent chaotic changes but with little thought out direction or strategy. I watched the direction completely flip from one day to the next. This will impact not only your work but your career. What you work on can be irrelevant the same week because of a direction change. It’s not fast paced it’s erratic.
They’ll blame it on being a startup but in reality it’s inexperienced leadership. They use the word startup as a cloak to get employees to excuse the chaos.
Employees are treated as disposable. Employees quit because the stress of the environment was too much. They have extremely high churn because the leadership is only focused on their individual goals at any cost. Even when a whole team leaves they’ll blame it on individuals instead of looking at a problem with their culture.
They’ll use everything out of you and ask for more. Working nights and weekends are a must. But don’t let that fool you - work never seems to chip away or build anything. Inexperienced leaders and people duplicating the work make progress seem like a pipe dream.
They have a philosophy of execution but it’s truly just “do more” attitude and then they pile on more. They are never satisfied and then will evaluate you based on goals without consideration of the additional work you did. If you want to succeed here it’s best to say nothing and manage up.
Because of poor management the burden to get work done is often placed on the employees. This includes being held responsible for undefined direction, constant change and added responsibilities. This also increases work hours and there’s a distinct culture of not raising any concerns and just dealing with these situations indefinitely.
The Executive staff often used the words ‘fake news’ when referring to feedback he didn’t agree with.
