Pros

When I started at Rivel, I raved about it to my family and friends. I felt so welcomed by all the employees, first by my reception on the first day, then by their earnest interest in my growth—both personal and career-oriented—and then by the day-to-day support. Since then, my enthusiasm for the company and my role in it has not dimmed. I still rave about my job to friends and family whenever asked. There is another review below mine that talks about how “when you’re here, you’re family.” This is something that many companies will say as a marketable selling point of their office environment, but Rivel is the only one I have yet seen that truly walks the walk—the culture here is the real deal. There are employees who have been here for 8, 10, 14, 19 years, and it’s easy to see why. At Rivel, I finally see my life past a 5-year plan. I see myself in a career that carries me forward, and this is in large part due to Rivel’s interest in job growth and upward mobility. In my short time here, there have been no fewer than 5 internal promotions, and it is made clear that, if you think your current position isn’t a perfect fit, you are free to move around within the company until you find a position where your skills can be optimally used. The people at Rivel care about each other. Beyond culture, the benefits are good, compensation is competitive, telecommuting is available for those who live relatively far away, there is a large PTO bank rather than time off broken down by vacation/sick/personal (which means you don’t have to fake illness to use sick time), and the company is growing exponentially, creating many exciting opportunities for job growth for those who work hard and are enthusiastic about Rivel’s upward trajectory. I’m happy to be part of the team, and I am looking forward to the future.

Pros

- Work-life balance is generally respected. - Most people are lovely, at least to your face. - Respectable client list.

Cons

- The culture is hollow. It's mostly talk with little to no follow-through. - The company entered a tailspin with cascading problems after the Covid bump peaked. Unrealistic growth expectations lead to over-hiring and subsequently several rounds of layoffs. - Management re-orgs the company about every 9 months, creating confusion while shuffling responsibilities/expectations. - New initiatives of questionable value are quickly introduced and soon forgotten or ignored. - The upper management group has been there for many years and is far too comfortable with itself. Poor outcomes are attributed to direct reports. - Most of the most talented individuals recognize the dog and pony show and move on for better opportunities/salaries elsewhere.
