Pros
Pay - compared to other entry-level (in the area) jobs Riverside pays more. Flexibility- My job works around my college schedule Gym- Riverside has a gym and you get a % off as an employee i really love the gym it's nice. Career growth- I worked at Riverside before I got my CNA license when i went to apply for a job as a CNA I went through the job listing for current employees, the next week I had an interview, and two days later I had the job. Not to mention they tend to take care of their employees when they terminate a job, an older coworker had his job eliminated but they gave him a list of what he could do in the next week he was getting trained for a job that he picked off of the list they offered him.
Cons
Culture- it's hard getting into the "group" I guess when they hire you they're nice but from a distance, you have to work here for 1-2 years before you join the clique which sounds really cliche but it's like high school and you have to jump through hoops to be accepted it's insane. Pay- Riverside pays more compared to other jobs in Kankakee but if you can travel 30 minutes away you see a big pay difference and considering that Riverside is a hospital that is magnet-certified you'd expect them to pay more. Point system- Riverside has a point system for attendance. My hate towards point systems in general does influence my bias against it slightly but Riverside only uses their point system against employees they don't like (and so they can give you less of a pay raise yearly) for instance a colleague of mine comes in late almost every day but she's great at her job and she's been there 20 years so they let it slide, but for a past colleague she had some family stuff going on so she was late a few day's, then she had to call off twice due to personal matters the manager didn't like her so when she accumulated enough points they got rid of her. And I say this as someone working here with enough points to be terminated it's about favorites if they like you they look the other way, but if they don't it's a really good way to get rid of you.
