Pros

+ Competitive compensation, base. + Talented coworkers who are actually friendly when not being abused by their management chains.

Cons

Hard to know where to start! - People Team is so, so toxic. They strong-arm employees into staying quiet about firings/departures, and are so inappropriate in how they handle communications about routine HR processes. See replies to Glassdoor reviews that ooze with fake empathy for an example of how badly they function. - They ask departing employees to lie about why they're leaving, or, they'll cut off access and ask the departed employees' manager(s) to lie after the fact. Truth is not a part of the People Team playbook. Threatening employees into keeping quiet by saying they'll revoke severance offers absolutely is! - The founders chase after a new shiny object every few months, burn out talented employees by setting unnecessarily aggressive deadlines, then move on once they get bored with their new toy right around launch. Hard to know if that will change now that there's only two founders left! - Nothing that hasn't been said in previous reviews when it comes to (lack of) strategy. When the clinical leadership includes such an underqualified C-suite executive, it's easy to see why the founders have been aimless. His role at the leadership table is to be told what to think by nonclinicians. So sad, but anyone who's heard him speak for just a few minutes understands why!

Ro Response

Departures can be tricky, and especially when someone is asked to leave. We don’t always get it right, but our intention is to be planful in how things are communicated so that we can balance dignity for the person departing with appropriate context and minimal disruption for the team that remains. As a healthcare company with sensitive patient information, we have an obligation to be even more conservative than the average company in how we handle sensitive departures. Regardless, we would never “strong arm”, threaten or ask anyone to lie - that’s simply not accurate. Our People Team truly does care about the people at Ro, even when the circumstances are difficult, and we do our best to support both current and departing Ro’ers, knowing that we can’t always make everyone happy. We are a start-up and have certainly pivoted at points along the way (usually due to new or emerging information and/or broader market dynamics that we would be remiss to dismiss) and we remain confident in our strategy and our leadership, including our strong and accomplished Clinical leaders. If you’d like to talk further about your experience, feel free to reach out to either of the Founders directly or The People team at people@ro.co.

Pros

The pay and ability to work remotely. Also they let you use a lab top which is nice.

Cons

Favoritism. I hit all my metrics and then some, 174% over and yet my contract was not extended and they would not provide one reason why other than their blanket corporate statement.
