Pros

Easy role, no different than any other agency As long as you do the job, they don't look to fire anyone until after year 1/2

Cons

Commission isn't great In-office culture is for the sake of micro-management and not collaboration. Very much our way or the highway; you will genuinely get in trouble for asking questions about their process. Also, they primarily operate under the legacy of Robert Half's name rather than on actual specialization and knowledge in the market. It's an old-school boys' club; they don't respect you until you've survived 2 years, and even then, multiple women mentioned that certain male managers weren't easy to work with and didn't value their experience. Even HR isn't supportive, especially if the problem is someone high enough on the food chain. Salary transparency is actually frowned upon internally. There isn't a culture of collaboration; the way the commission structure operates, everyone works against each other to make the deal. And if perm and contract are working on the same role, they actively work against each other, which isn't comfortable for anyone. They're so eager for work that they operate as 'yes men' and not as actual consultants on the market, and will not stand up for their candidates if they can close a deal. They use AI to train recruiters on how to match keywords on resumes to candidate profiles, not to actually understand who they're looking for or how to evaluate them properly.

Pros

Success with other departments - just not in mine

Cons

Complete bait and switch. I accepted this position under one manager, only to find out after resigning from my previous job that I would be reporting to someone else entirely. There was no meaningful onboarding, no training materials, and no support system in place. My manager openly stated that there was no monetary value in helping me succeed and made little effort to train or develop me. Requests to shadow and learn the business were dismissed in favor of keeping me on the phones. Instead of being set up for success, I felt actively prevented from growing. HR was equally disappointing. I raised legitimate concerns and never received a response. The organization talks about development and support, but my experience suggested otherwise. Joining this company was one of the biggest professional mistakes I have made.
