Pros
Honestly there are no pros, don't believe me? Apply and work there yourself. You will find out all the pep talk at orientations are as worthless as a Bernard Madoff investment fund.
Cons
You work downtown, was in the former Comerica tower but now I hear they moved. This is a division of Quicken Loans. If you are called for an interview and they tell you it's for Rock Connections hang up the phone, you are working on behalf of the Meridian Health Plan and the pay is as low as can be @ $12.00 per hour. Meridian employees make around $15.00 when hired in. You will hear about raises after 1 year of service, potential bonuses promotions etc, but not many people get promoted and the bonuses are paid at the end of the month and are between $150-500, $500 if you're lucky, most don't come close to it. It is a lot of information to know and they expect it after 60 days of hire, earlier than that in the opinion of many. Whatever you do wrong you get marked down which I guess is fine if it is a serious error however they will mark you down for things that you have done right but were not in a sense done to their so called "High Standards". Some will get confronted over their demeanor or style on the phone even if it is pleasant and understanding, others they don't have the courage to confront. They will take you to orientations praise the hell out of Quicken Loans as if Quicken Loans is the world's savior. Some people say they prey on people desperate for work, looks that way and training is inefficient. After training you are expected to know everything. At Quicken they like to talk about how "we're all human we all make mistakes". Be aware you're on a timed schedule so forget about being concerned about restroom breaks, forget about being efficient just rush it. Expect to work on lunch to catch up. Don't show any compassion or understanding to the people who speak to you on the phone Rush The Hell Out Of It and get the call done in 6 minutes, less is always better. Calls are monitored and they find the worse ones to evaluate you on. It seems as if they take pleasure in humiliating people however, most are afraid to admit this since it is owned by Dan Gilbert/Quicken Loans. They have wall space around the office known as the "Wall of Shame". Someone I keep in contact with told me the wall is still around. You're name will go on it and stay for a while if you screw up. People will write humiliating things on it to purposely humiliate you. Now how is that for compassion? It's enough to make some leave in tears you will be degraded. Would you like it if someone pointed an arrow to your good name and write an insult? Not many people bother to keep this job for the long term, it's not worth it. Parking is a big problem too. If you can't catch a shuttle to or from an assigned parking lot "be ready to walk a mile or two". BE prepared to be on the phone late and I mean late. So if it's one minute until you clock out and you get a call you have to take t even it if takes a half an hour. Meridian employees laugh at Rock employees. Don't believe what's written? Try it yourself. Go through it yourself. Have fun being micro managed everyday. Insurance will take a good portion of your pay, but what can you do? "Team Leaders" are the ones writing the positive reviews, at Rock you will hear the name Arnold Palmer and now I see it on a review on here that's how you know its a leader who wrote the review. Be prepared to be coached coached coached!!! Rumor is the recruiters get a bonus for each person hired. Everything you do is basically wrong and the so called veterans laugh at the new people just the same way Meridian employees laugh at them. Everything is constantly changed from policies to work stations. You'll even find out your company provided guides and flow charts are wrong. BTW you will never move onto the Quicken Loans division.
