For anyone seriously considering a role at Rokt, I would highly recommend looking past the 5-star reviews that were all posted within a relatively short timeframe (several even on the same day!). I'm including the following past review as it is very well-written. Also note, this specific review currently has 47 upvotes. The 5-star ones all have ~10-15... think about it. "Rokt promotes itself as an innovative forward thinking company that prides itself on being a force for good. It promises its employees fair and equitable treatment, with a myriad of opportunities for both professional and financial growth. Unfortunately, this is furthest from the truth. Rokt is run with an iron first. If you happen to find yourself on the wrong side of an executive, you might as well accept the fact that your days are numbered. Employees that have given the company years of experience can one day find themselves without a job for no discernible reasons other than “ego” or they “didn’t fit the culture.” Leadership convenes every six months to “calibrate” all employees. It is essentially a Mean Girls gossip session that provides the opportunity to DEMOTE (and promote) employees. The comical part is that when one of those leaders is “calibrated” that same group will destroy him/her when they are outside of the room. Top-down pressure and moving goal posts create an atmosphere of chaos, with a palpable feeling of anxiety permeating across the office at all times. Employees are afraid to speak up out of fear of retribution while leadership positions are filled by unqualified friends of the executive team. It is not uncommon for a handful of employees to be let go every few weeks on a Friday afternoon. Over the past 18 months, Rokt has seen tremendous growth as funding and revenue continues to grow. Many in the market for a job see the company as an amazing opportunity especially with so many openings posted on various job boards. What most are unaware of is the unfathomable level of turnover. It’s not uncommon for people with less than 6 months into their tenure to start job hunting once they recognize the instability and toxicity that exists across the company. Customer success teams struggle to hit 70% of their targets as their goals are unrealistic and constantly changing; while business development team members have seen their targets and commission structure change 3 times in 9 months all in an effort to make it more difficult to hit one’s goals. As bad as all of the above sounds, it doesn’t even touch on the article that appeared on Business Insider earlier this year entitled “Blackface, booze, and blurred lines at the $2 billion tech firm Rokt.” The article details a harmful work environment littered with stories of sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior and racist undertones. The above, however, should not be much of a surprise once one realizes that Lachlan Murdoch (Fox News) is a major investor and friend of the company. Setting aside the despicable culture of Rokt, the tech isn’t actually that good. The company happened to find an untapped and valuable piece of inventory on digital properties. Most advertisers are unable to succeed on the platform and it is likely that once additional competitors enter the market, Rokt will begin to face significant headwinds as it tries to maintain or acquire additional supply." I sincerely thought this was a dream opportunity, but joining was one of the worst decisions I've made. Nothing is worth putting up with such a toxic environment. I urge you to not follow in my steps.
