Very dishonest, unrealistic with senior management having no idea what really goes on or how stores really look. - Management Ross Stores Employee Review

Pros

Discount, some peers and people who worked for me

Cons

This company is running to gain short term stock value at the expense of the brand. Stores being overwhelmed do to very low payroll to sales ratio are not a bother to the leadership, they're more like hedge fund managers then retail, I don't think they know anything about retail. In a company that sells products so cheap they feel that have the kind of clientele that don't have a choice but to shop there. They know the payroll to workload do not match and they don't care, the pressure is put on managers to find a way to get it accomplished. This is why it makes everyone down the line feel unappreciated. This is a horrible place to work, the company should be investigated I'm sure they would find all kinds of unscrupulous work practices going on there.

Pros

All of my coworkers were wonderful. No high school drama. Boss was flexible and understanding, although he always liked it if you said you could work more hours. The employee discount is pretty awesome. The work wasn't bad and rude customers were rare.

Cons

There was pressure to come in even when you were sick. Pay wasn't the greatest; it usually stayed ahead of minimum wage, but by no means kept up with inflation. Visits from corporate often meant a new change in procedures that had been working and demands that were somewhat unreasonable given the constraints of the layout or number of employees available.
