Pros

Competitive salary compared to others in the retail corporate space. -Plenty of social activities and team events if you enjoy mingling and "play time". -Solid benefits package, including health, vision, dental, and employee discounts. -Growth opportunities can exist, but largely depend on your immediate leadership and team environment. -The company culture is very supportive of parents, with more flexibility and understanding given to those with family responsibilities.

Cons

Ross started off feeling excited and promising—there’s a buzz of energy when you first join, and people seem eager to connect. However, over time, I learned that upper management tends to use personal ambitions, like seeking promotion, as leverage to overwork and pressure employees far beyond reasonable expectations. Expressing a desire to grow often results in being assigned excessive projects and treated unfairly, all under the guise of "earning" the next level. The culture, unfortunately, is heavily rooted in gossip and politics. Leadership—especially buyers and senior executives—stand united, making it nearly impossible to navigate issues or voice concerns without fear of retaliation. HR often aligns with leadership, leaving little room for true fairness or employee advocacy. Flexibility is inconsistent at best. It depends entirely on who your buyer is. If you’re lucky enough to have someone who doesn’t prioritize FaceTime, you might experience some breathing room. While I gained valuable experience, the toxic environment and lack of authentic support made it a difficult place to thrive long-term. Please be careful, especially if seeking a healthy, supportive culture where hard work is fairly recognized.

Pros

All of my coworkers were wonderful. No high school drama. Boss was flexible and understanding, although he always liked it if you said you could work more hours. The employee discount is pretty awesome. The work wasn't bad and rude customers were rare.

Cons

There was pressure to come in even when you were sick. Pay wasn't the greatest; it usually stayed ahead of minimum wage, but by no means kept up with inflation. Visits from corporate often meant a new change in procedures that had been working and demands that were somewhat unreasonable given the constraints of the layout or number of employees available.
