Pros

Friendly management and really great team members. Management was always very respectful, and easy to talk to. It was also easy to adjust your schedule if you found someone to cover your shifts. Good exposure to emergency and non-emergency calls. Overall, it was a great stepping stone to future endeavors.

Cons

Low hourly wage, but unfortunately this is standard for the industry. Shifts commonly ran late - generally about 1 hour late, but sometimes up to 3-4 hours late. Lastly, when working on a holiday we would only receive overtime pay during certain hours (I believe until 6 or 7pm). Being required to work on holidays is tough, but not receiving holiday pay for the full shift was frustrating.

Pros

Good way to get basic EMT experience. Able to expand on that doing CCT or ALS transfers with medics and nurses. Good place to start a career in EMS or healthcare if you use it as a platform to jump from. The good news is they embrace this.

Cons

Basic IFT transports. Usually nothing too crazy can let your skills go soft.
