IFT gets boring real quick, and what does not help is that the call volume from our contracted hospitals are so high, that getting Code 2's or code 3's are almost never heard of now. When I first started, I would get 3-4 code 2's all day, and now, they range about 2-4 a WEEK. Pay..... I mean, yikes. So much work, and so little pay. $15 starting if no experience Getting Held over is a given. Dont make plans after work, because you are going to have to cancel. Operations advises us to work fast... 20 min at destination and clear quickly in order to "get you off on time" but we all know the faster we work, the more calls they give us, the more likely you'll get held over. That whole, " clear faster get home on time" is a joke. Gurneys... Most gurneys we get are used manual gurneys. I guess they're holding back in those since they have other priorities like EPCR and smartphone up and running, but seriously, manual gurneys are backbreackers. No joke. Even GURNEY VANS have electric strykers?! You'd think theyd be able to afford electric gurneys, we work so hard and run 150+ calls a day avg in order to support that. The new bariatric is 300lbs + , and they expect you to do 299 max in a manual gurney and no lift assist... ridiculous. They are just asking for employee injuries. Oh and expect to wait 1+hr for a lift assist. Field Training... when i started, expect to work 7-12 shifts avg to really hone in on skills and such, and Ive heard of FTO's complaining that Operations are really picking at the FTO's to clear them 5-6 days even if they are not ready. Even though they try hard to please everyone, being that its a very FAST growing company, alot of stuff is falling through the cracks and it shows in morale. Older veterans claiming "they can't wait to get out". Alot of people are feeling under appreciated. Me included
