Pros

My time at Royal has been a great experience. Most, if not all, my partners have been awesome to work with. I've also had a good experience working with the Supervisors in Santa Clara County. Scheduling is super helpful. In my opinion, they're willing to work with you especially if you're not constantly calling out, asking for continuous permanent schedule changes, etc. Overall I think it's a great place to get experience and work with cool people.

Cons

Being IFT, you don't get a lot of opportunities to practice medical/trauma assessments in emergent situations. Code 2's can be infrequent which is when you have a more of a chance to put some of those into practice. However, if you're looking to going into 911 as an EMT or Paramedic, I think there are still ways to maintain and develop your EMT skills, It just requires intentionality on your part. It won't be the same as emergent situations you'll find in 911 but you will at least maintain your skills.
