Pros

There is a desire to grow and innovate and they are diversifying their services for the future. They are very remote friendly and leave it up to employees to work the way they can be the most productive and successful.

Cons

The company uses most of their money to hold events and expense absurdly expensive meals regularly rather than paying their employees decent living wages that keep up inflation. The performance evaluation system fails to truly recognize an individual's contribution by having people who barely work with a person or who is not in their department/team advocate for their performance and pay to partners and the board. A lot of the partners only care about themselves and do not advocate for what is right for staff, taking advantage of the people who do the majority of the work with little praise or compensation. Most of the partners and managers are older and are biased against younger staff, not recognizing value because of age. I have also observed some discrimination in regards to gender by some partners who try and control and manipulate women they work with vs the men they work with. The benefits makes it impossible to afford any medical care on the low salaries they pay. When asking HR about this, they said they choose to have a high deductible plan as the only option because “it keeps employees healthier” because “employees will make life choices that prevent seeking medical care and going to doctor appointments.” So basically if you have a chronic condition HR doesn’t care about you receiving affordable healthcare. As someone with a chronic condition, I am no longer able to afford the care I need because of RubinBrown’s plan and my health has drastically taken a hit since joining the firm. This firm is an absolute mess. Stay away if you want to be able to live comfortably and be treated with respect.

Pros

Worked for the Tax R&E Team. Amazing group, great company, and fun intern events. Was allowed to stay on and work part time for a fall semester. 10/10 would recommend. Learned so much about statups/emerging technology companies. Clearly a good culture

Cons

Wish I got to work the "tax" seasons to truly understand the full through process.

Pros

The culture in the Kansas City office is amazing. Everyone cares about each other and getting the work down together.

Cons

Pay is below the average you can make other places in Kansas City.
